The original plot involved Max, a savant baker who connects a super-computer to an oven and discovers a link between mathematics and baking. The result is the world's greatest pie, which itself contains the numerical code of the mathematical constant Pi to an indescribable number of decimal places. When news of this amazing discovery becomes public, greedy mathematicians wish to get their hands on the pie, and disect it to learn its secrets - equally, a team of pie eating contest champions wish to savour this delectable pastry. Who will reach Max first? Or will he be able to find safety by disproving his own discovery before anybody can unravel his secrets? The final cut removed the pastry and the oven, replacing the pie eating contest winners with a religious figure.
