Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What is a Barcode Battler?
A. A Barcode Battler (BCB) is a hand-held game device which uses barcodes instead of discs or cartridges to play a battle game.

Q. What is a Barcode?
A. A Barcode is the (usually) black and white stripy thing on most items you can buy from a shop. I know the BCB accepts 8,12 and 13 digit Barcodes, and it may support other standards, but we're not certain which ones if any.

Q. What is the game about?
A. The game is like a very simple version of Pokémon or Yu-Gi-Oh. A turn-based battle is fought where the players can attack, recover or cast spells once per turn. Power-up cards may be added at the start of the battle, but the main event is the one player Adventure which sees the chosen heroes' stats grow.

Q. What are all the numbers? Why no pictures?
A. The BCB hardware isn't very powerful, and just seems to crunch very simple numbers. This may have something to do with the quick demise of the system. The game is played by the various stats - Health Points (HP), Strike Points (ST), Defence Points (DF), Magic Points (MP) and Survival Points (SP).

Q. I keep dying in Adventure Mode - please help!
A. If you are a truly great Barcode Battler, you can defeat the game using only the cards which originally came with the machine.
If you need a little help, check out our Barcode Battler II page (click on "Products" and then "Black") which will help you to decide which light world to tackle first.
If you're a natural born cheater (like I am), you'll create some sort of super-being and a power-up which will power-down your enemy! Check out the custom barcodes section, and use the Barcode Generator to copy me in my evil cheating ways!

Q. I don't have the time to search for cool barcodes. Are there any ways of cheating using only the original barcodes?
A. Yes. Check out our Cheats page (click on "Technical", and then "Cheats").
