It ensures a fair fight - most of the time. There are many flavours of Bakodo law: Pure Bakodo is the fighting style of Heroes. Mixed Bakodo is the fighting style of Neutrals. Corrupt Bakodo is the fighting style of Evils. The history of Bakodo is almost as old as the Ring O' Stars itself. Before the Umbrocs had existed, Bakodo was used to prevent death during battle - it is a code of honour. Pure Bakodo Pure Bakodo is practised by Heroes. It enforces discipline and strength of the soul. When faced with a terrible enemy, this strength of the soul may increase physical strength. The rules of Pure Bakodo are: A fighter's strength should not be used outside of battle. Fighters must work together to defeat what they cannot defeat alone. Fighters may only use their strength of soul when working together. Because of these limitations, a Hero is often not as strong as an Evil outside of battle. To maintain a state of Pure Bakodo, a fighter is compelled to obey these rules. Mixed Bakodo Their hearts are in the right places, but neutrals can often be pursuaded to follow paths of evil. Because of this, a neutral in battle can either be heroic or evil. When evil, they become more powerful than normal, but are unable to call upon their soul. With enough training, a Neutral can use their strength of soul to allow their pure selves to become more powerful in battle. The rules of Mixed Bakodo are: Let your heart decide when to use your strength. Fighters must work together to defeat what they cannot defeat alone. Fighters may only use their strength of soul when working together. As you can see, there is little difference, but the potential of a Neutral is less of that of any Hero or Evil. Corrupt Bakodo Usually, they work for themselves. If they work for someone else, it is usually for their own benefit. Evils were mostly vanquished before the rise of the Umbrocs. The rules of Corrupt Bakodo are: Use your strength whenever you want to, regardless of consequence. Use brute force to decimate your opponent! A fighter does not need soul - physical strength conquers all! This is quite the opposite of the Pure Bakodo law. Only the worst of the worst follow these laws. The Arena Even after the Umbrocs had been defeated by the "Ten", there were a great deal of Evils hiding. To prevent further bloodshed, an amnesty was declared - all Evils were to give up their bad ways in return for an easy life pleasing the crowd in a battle arena. To this end, four classes of battle were decided upon: Pure is when Heroes and/or Neutrals fight against eachother. Neutrals must be in "Pure" mode to participate. Mixed is when Neutrals fight against eachother. They may occupy whatever mode suits them, and usually start the battle in "Pure" mode, and switch to "Corrupt" for a boost of strength! Corrupt is when Evils and/or Neutrals fight against eachother. Neutrals may occupy whatever mode suits them, and can change mode at any time, though many opt to start in "Corrupt" mode to be able to withstand the force of their opponents. Doubles is when any type of fighter pairs up with any other fighter against two other opponents. Heroes and/or Neutrals may use their strength of soul for a boost of strength before the start of battle, but only while the Neutral is in "Pure" mode. Switching to "Corrupt" causes both team members to revert to their natural strength. Strength of Soul In order to build the strength of the soul, any pairing of Hero and Neutral (or Hero and Hero) (or Neutral and Neutral) must train together. There are 100 different soul strength ratings (from 0 to 99), and defeating some Evils can cause the strength of the souls of a team to change - either up or down. The highest possible rating to be gained from defeating an evil is 49, but there are arteifacts which exist which are capable of taking this higher. When Can I Take Up Bakodo? The Bakodo Tournament Arena will open soon. It is under construction. When it does open, you will be given a fighter to manage. You can choose either a Soldier or a Sorcerer, and from these one of ten different species. Each will bring with them an object of some kind. As you progress, you can manage more than one fighter. The more fights they win, the more Tokoins you earn. Tokoins are the currency in the Ring O' Stars. Tokoins can be used to purchase in-game objects, and if you earn enough, they can be used to buy yourself a tidy gift as well!
